We read with interest this article in Men’s Health about staying in shape your entire life. While it covered key points like not to obsess over looks and mixing up your sports and fitness routine, the article also touched on two key points we constantly talk about and advise our clients of: ‘listen to your body’ and; ‘keep on moving’.
Rather than push through pain, the article is spot on where it talks about listening to your body. Where you may have once been able to run a certain distance in a certain time, or perhaps lift certain weights or do a certain number of press ups, when your body talks to you, stop and listen. That niggling pain, as we so often put it, is what needs to be checked out sooner rather than later. The reason being is that a physiotherapist can put a programme in place specifically tailored to you and your ailment.
Or, perhaps you’re noticing your ability is not as it used to be, age does start to creep up on all of us at some point! So, if you attend a gym, speak to the instructors and perhaps it’s time to alter or mix up your routine to keep excitement going and to provide you with a new challenge tailored to your capability as it is now.
Physio treatments
If you do seek treatment, after having the assessment with our physio we will be able to get you on track with the right treatment through mobilisation and manipulation.
If you’re taking painkillers for a prolonged period of time this can often hide symptoms and can lead to more long-term pain. So, get treated earlier and you’ll be on the road to recovery quicker.
